Should I put Texas Holey Rock in my Aquarium?

Due to the pandemic and the stay-at-home situation, the aquarium hobby has almost tripled in size. In 2020, reports showed that 5 million households kept a home aquarium. The data showed at the end of 2025 that number was 12 million and is still on the rise. One topic that comes up pretty quickly for anyone learning the art of fishkeeping is, should I put Texas Holey Rocks in my fish tank?
If you can answer yes to any one of the questions below, then yes, you should definitely put Holey Rocks in your tank. Holey Rocks are limestone rocks with a high calcium content. When you decorate your tank with Holey Rocks, it's like giving your fish vitamins.
1. Do the fish you are keeping require an elevated / high pH level?
2. Do you have a Rift Valley tank, such as Tanganyika, Malawi, Victoria, and Turkana?
3. Is your tank a high-pH tank?
4. Is your tank an alkalized tank?
5. Is your aquarium an alkaline setup?
6. Do you have a saltwater setup? (Fish only, FOWLR or a Reef tank)
If your setup is like one of these, Texas Holey Rock is a good choice to decorate your aquarium with.
